Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)

An outbreak of a new flu-like strain of the Coronavirus has been reported in several countries including China, France, Germany, Canada and the USA. Coronaviruses typically affect the upper respiratory tract and infections range in severity from mild to severe. 

What is Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are known to cause illness ranging from common cold to more severe diseases. The novel coronavirus is a new strain of coronavirus that has not been previously identified in humans. The novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China; the virus probably originally emerged from an animal source and then spread to humans. 

What are the symptoms?

The symptoms include;
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Sore throat  
  • Shortness of breath
  • In more severe cases, pneumonia

How do I keep myself and people in my business healthy?

  • Frequently wash your hands with water and soap and dry hands thoroughly using paper towels.

  • If there is no water and soap available clean your hands by using alcohol-based hand sanitizers.

  • When coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – throw tissue away immediately and wash your hands.

  • Avoid close contact with anyone who has fever and cough.

  • If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing seek medical care early and share previous travel history with your healthcare provider.

  • The consumption of raw or undercooked animal products should be avoided. Raw meat, milk or animal organs should be handled with care, to avoid cross-contamination with uncooked foods, as per good food safety practices.
